On This Day artwork in the Wembley matchday programme for tomorrow’s England v Lithuania World Cup qualifier (Sunday 26 March). OTD feature goes back to Spain v England in 1980. England captain was Kevin Keegan (a Hamburg player at that time), he’d just collected his second Ballon D’Or, and was wearing his bubble perm…

My idea was to design some Leicester City Prints to go alongside the Postcard Collection. The postcard portraits work as prints without any changes, so no extra work there…

leicesterprints1

so does the Fearless Foxes design, and the Premier League table,

leicesterprints2

but I tried out a couple more team options. First one is a long horizontal design, ‘The Magnificent 7’, with 6 of Leicester’s key players arranged left to right (Kasper Schmeichel, N’Golo Kanté, Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, Danny Drinkwater & Wes Morgan), and manager Claudio Ranieri at the centre

here’s a couple of close ups…

and the second team design is this ‘Champions’ print, combining the portraits with the Premier League trophy, and the League table.

England keeper Peter Shilton ended up wearing a Scotland keeper’s jersey, as his own blue top clashed with the Scottish shirts
